Benefits of Laser Hair Removal
Unlike less permanent and more painful procedures, laser hair removal is effective with minimal discomfort for you. It is well trusted and safe, and has become one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures done. If you’re in a rush, smaller patches of hair can be removed in minutes, and even large areas can be cleared in less than an hour. It can be used with precision, removing even specific colored hair while leaving the rest intact. Finally and most importantly, results can be seen from the very first session with permanent hair removal in only a few short weeks.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal uses an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to remove the hair without damaging the skin. This is done through the pigment in hair follicles absorbing the light, leaving the skin undamaged and inhibiting future hair growth. There is little discomfort, at worst being described as a flick of the finger against the skin.
What is the process like?
While it is a very simple procedure, laser hair removal is still a medical procedure. Just beforehand, your hair that will be undergoing treatment will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the skin surface. The laser equipment will be adjusted according to the color, thickness, and location of your hair being treated as well as your skin color.
Next, the certified technician will send a pulse of light to the treatment area and watch the area for several minutes to make sure everything went well and to check for bad reactions.
After the procedure is completed, the technician will consult with you and you may be given cold water, anti-inflammatory creams or lotions, or ice packs to help with any discomfort. At this time, it would be best to schedule your next treatment for a few weeks later. From that point on, you’ll get treatments until the hair in the area is gone for good.
Afterward, the area may feel and look as if it had been mildly sunburned for a few days, but it won’t last. Over the next month your treated hair will fall out, and by the end of the treatments will never be a bother to you again!
